The captain of the Crystal Bach will be Lukas Zatschkowitsch, a native of Vienna. A seasoned captain on Europe’s rivers for the past 15 years, his experience dates even further back to his childhood, riding aboard his father’s boat along the Danube, Rhine and Main Rivers.

The hotel director on Crystal Bach will be Sergio Merendino, who joined Crystal aboard Crystal Serenity in 2011. He most recently served aboard Crystal River Cruises’ award-winning ship, Crystal Mozart. Merendino has built his leadership skills from a long career in luxury hotel service and management throughout Europe. As hotel director, he will oversee all hotel operations including accommodations, service and culinary programs and will be accessible to guests during their voyages.

She will sail 10- 14-day itineraries between Amsterdam, Frankfurt and Basel while visiting other destinations along the Rhine and Moselle Rivers such as Cologne, Koblenz, Breisach and Antwerp.

Crystal’s CEO and president Edie Rodriguez said in a written release that the brand has always made a point to designate “the highest caliber of professionals at every level of service aboard [its] ships,” as they are rooted to the quality of guests’ experiences. He assures passengers that Captain Zatschkowitsch and his officers will oversee “every luxurious detail” during Crystal Bach’s maiden voyage.
