National Travel Advisor Day on May 1 is almost here, and the American Society of Travel Advisors (ASTA) is launching a toolkit to help members of the industry educate the traveling public, policymakers and the media on the value advisors provide to consumers and the overall travel industry. 

“Today’s travel advisors aren’t intermediaries,” said ASTA President and CEO Zane Kerby in a written statement. “They are trusted advisors — akin to financial planners and CPAs — whose knowledge allows them to navigate a complex array of suppliers to maximize value for their clients. Our yearly consumer research makes clear: travel advisors make the experience better! Happy Travel Advisor Day!”

ASTA suggests three ways its toolkit can help travel advisors take action to continue to spread awareness and leverage the advisor community’s collective power on May 1:

  1. Advisors can tap the power of social media by sharing meaningful, insightful stories and tagging #TravelAdvisorDay and #ASTAadvisors with the social media visuals provided.
  2. Make it count on Capitol Hill through already-drafted Letters to Congress to connect to your local and federal lawmakers on issues directly impacting you and your business.
  3. Let your value be seen by your local newspaper through a pre-crafted Letter to the Editor portal.
