A&K Adds Two New Luxury Expedition Cruises to 2023-24 Season

Abercrombie & Kent (A&K) has added two new itineraries to its portfolio of “Luxury Expedition Cruises”—one that explores the coast of Tanzania and the Seychelles and the other from French Polynesia to Easter Island. These small-group voyages focus on exploring rich marine environments and discovering places of historic significance and are led by experienced guides.

A&K’s onboard enrichment program includes daily lectures by members of the expedition team. Dr. April Burt, a conservation scientist with a background in coral reef conservation, will be onboard the Seychelles cruise to share her experience with conservation programs in Aldabra Atoll. Commander Susan Kilrain, an aerospace engineer, Navy test pilot and one of the first three women to pilot the space shuttle, will join the French Polynesia cruise to bring a unique perspective on the similarities between early explorers and her experience as a NASA astronaut. Lastly, Michelle Valberg, photo enrichment coach, will join both cruises in 2023 to help capture the natural beauty of these destinations.

For the 2023 expedition season, A&K is introducing new destinations and bringing back popular adventure expeditions, including “Kimberley Cruise: Australia’s Last Frontier” (May 12-24, 2023), a voyage that explores reefs, waterfalls, wildlife and aboriginal culture; and “Indonesia Voyage: Komodo, Papua & Great Barrier Reef” (October 20 to November 5, 2023), which explores tribal traditions and natural wonders.

The 14-day “Cruising the Seychelles & Coastal Tanzania” will help guests discover the coral reefs and culture of East Africa, beginning in Zanzibar with its spice markets, and the UNESCO-designated ruins of Kilwa Kisiwani, followed by underwater adventures in the Seychelles. The itinerary includes the Aldabra Atoll, a UNESCO World Heritage site teeming with endemic birds and wildlife.

Each stateroom and suite has a private balcony

On the 14-day “French Polynesia to Easter Island Expedition,” guests can discover the region’s history and explore marine environments. They can go snorkeling in the Tuamotu archipelago—the largest chain of atolls in the world, and experience the historic Pitcairn Islands and their shared HMS Bounty legacy. Guests can also trace Polynesian culture to its roots and discover the secrets of Easter Island.

A&K will deploy Ponant's new Le Jacques Cartier in Africa and Le Boreal in French Polynesia, limiting capacity to approximately 80 percent, never more than 148-199 guests, depending on the vessel–ensuring each stateroom and suite has a private balcony.

The all-inclusive trips include lectures, special events, shore excursions, gratuities, and complimentary Wi-Fi and laundry. Included city stays feature luxury hotels and locally guided A&K tours. Guests must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. A doctor and nurse are available 24/7 with access to medical equipment.
