Extraordinary Journeys Announces New Australia Itinerary

Extraordinary Journeys is taking travelers Down Under with its new itinerary, Vibrant Neighborhoods, Culture and Wildlife of Sydney and Southern Australia. The 12-day/11-night tour takes guests behind-the-scenes of Sydney's neighborhoods, to the unspoiled beauty of Kangaroo Island, on a food and wine experience in the Barossa Valley in a vintage 1962 Daimler, and on an African-style Australian Outback safari in the Flinders Ranges.

Additionally, depending on the time of year, guests have the opportunity to include the Adelaide Festival (first two weeks in March), Vivid Sydney (May 25-June 16), or Dark Mofo in Tasmania (June 15-24) to their itinerary. Extensions to Wolgan Valley, Lizard Island or Uluru are also recommended.

Vibrant Neighborhoods, Culture and Wildlife of Sydney and Southern Australia highlights include:

Four Nights - Pier One, Sydney: Based at Pier One Sydney, travelers will embark on a small group tour and a lunch cruise on Sydney Harbour. Guests will then spend the remaining time in the city deciding between insider art and food walking excursions including The Cannery, Barangaroo, and Tramsheds; tours with an acclaimed Aboriginal Guide; surfing lessons on Bondi or Manly Beach; climbing the Harbour Bridge; and dinner and a private tour of the Sydney Opera House.

Two Nights - Southern Ocean Lodge, Kangaroo Island: While on Kangaroo Island, travelers will have the opportunity to explore the Cape du Couedic Lighthouse, Remarkable Rocks, Admirals Arch, and a fur seal colony. Based at the Southern Ocean Lodge, guests will also learn about the local wildlife (kangaroos, wallabies and sea lions, to name a few), the maritime heritage, and coastal landscapes.

Two Nights - The Louise, Barossa Valley: Travelers drive through the Barossa Valley to The Louise. Guests will be escorted on a private tour in a 1962 Daimler with award-winning wine guide, John Baldwin. Wine country highlights will include blending your own wine at Penfolds, a private tasting of Barossa wines at Roennfeldt Road cellar door, lunch at Vintners Restaurant, and a tasting experience at Seppeltsfield, home of the world's only continuous collection of fortified wines dating back to 1878.

Two Nights - Arkaba Station, Flinders Ranges: Based in an exclusive 10-guest 1850s homestead, guests will embark on African-style safari game experiences in the Australian Outback. Activities will include 4X4 game drives, nature hikes, visits to ancient rock drawings, and stargazing. A scenic, 30-minute flight over Wilpena Pound will conclude a visit to the Flinders Ranges.

One Night - Mayfair Hotel, Adelaide: The penultimate day in Australia will be spent exploring the wine and festival capital of Australia. Adelaide is filled with historic buildings, wide streets, trendy shops and street cafés, but a visit is not complete without a tram ride to the beach, or a visit to the Aboriginal Culture Centre and the Adelaide Central Market.

One Night - Pier One, Sydney: Travelers fly to Sydney and transfer to Pier One Hotel in the heart of Sydney.

The Vibrant Neighborhoods, Culture and Wildlife of Sydney and Southern Australia itinerary is priced at $9,850 per person and includes transfers and flights within Australia. All meals and drinks are included at Southern Ocean Lodge and Arkaba Station. Other meals as indicated in the full itinerary.
