Vaccinated international travelers, including European citizens, will once again be able to travel to the United States starting November 8, 2021. The announcement of the decision to ease travel restrictions that have been in place for over 18 months has led to a significant rise in sales at Air France, particularly on routes to New York, Los Angeles and Miami, for travel in November and during the Christmas holiday season.
To support the resumption of traffic on transatlantic routes, the airline will gradually increase its capacity during the winter. Between now and the end of March 2022, Air France plans to return to a capacity corresponding to around 90 percent of that of 2019, compared to 50 percent in summer 2021.
This will see an increase in frequencies to certain destinations, including New York (from three to five daily flights), Miami (from seven to 12 weekly flights) and Los Angeles (from 12 to 17 weekly flights). During this time, the airline will also resume flights from Paris-Charles de Gaulle to Seattle, after suspending the service since the beginning of the COVID crisis (three weekly flights starting December 6, 2021), it will resume its usual Paris-Papeete route, via Los Angeles (three weekly flights between Los Angeles and Papeete starting November 11, 2021), and inaugurate a new route between Pointe-à-Pitre and New York JFK (two weekly flights starting November 24, 2021).
This winter, Air France will serve 11 destinations in the United States, with up to 122 weekly flights.
Flights to/from Paris-Charles de Gaulle will serve Atlanta (14 weekly flights by Airbus A350-900); Boston (seven weekly flights by Airbus A350-900); Chicago (five weekly flights by Boeing 777-300); Detroit (five weekly flights by Boeing 787-9); Washington DC (seven weekly flights by Boeing 777-300); Houston (five weekly flights by Boeing 777-300); New York JFK (35 weekly flights by Boeing 777-200 and 777-300); Los Angeles (17 weekly flights by Boeing 777-200 and 777-300); Miami (12 weekly flights by Boeing 777-300 and Airbus A350-900); Seattle (three weekly flights by Airbus A350-900, starting December 6, 2021); and San Francisco (seven weekly flights by Boeing 777-300).
Flights to/from Pointe-à-Pitre (Guadeloupe) will serve New York JFK (two weekly flights by Airbus A320, starting November 24, 2021) and flights to/from Papeete (French Polynesia) will serve Los Angeles (three weekly flights by Boeing 777-300, starting November 11, 2021).
Good to know: As part of its commercial policy, Air France is currently offering fully modifiable tickets for travel until March 31, 2022. Customers can modify their reservation free of charge, or request a refundable credit voucher if they no longer wish to travel.
