Four Hundred by Design (FHxD), a platform designed to support luxury travel advisors with its boutique collection of properties, has added 47 new villas to its luxury inventory in 2022.
Robert Eastman, executive director, luxury villas and private residences at FHxD said, “In the 30 years that I have been in the vacation rental business, this might be the single most active season that private villas and residences have seen. In a post-COVID environment advisors and their clients realize that the private residence is not only the perfect way for families or friends to vacation but also the safest.”
Eastman is responsible for curating the collection of luxury villas and private residences for FHxD, which today includes 155 properties. Prior to FHxD, Eastman served as founder and CEO of Villas of Distinction; and managing director of The Villa Experience by American Express Vacations.
Below are seven new luxury villas and residences that have been added to the FHxD collection:
Greensleeves in Barbados sits on 656 feet of water frontage located in The Garden, St. James. This fully renovated 10-bedroom villa comes with sea views and offers direct access to two Barbados "Platinum" West Coast beaches. Guests can unwind in the lanai lounge area or take a dip in the swimming pool, surrounded by sun loungers and cabanas. A team of housekeepers, butlers, an executive chef with culinary staff, and 24-hour security are available at hand.
Haven House is a six-bedroom beachfront villa located on Long Bay, the southeast coast of Providenciales, Turks and Caicos. Highlights include ocean-facing bedrooms, indoor and outdoor entertainment areas, and a dedicated concierge.
The three-bedroom Villa Acamar in Toiny, St. Barth's, is within minutes from the beach. Hidden on a hill, the villa offers privacy and panoramic ocean views. It has an open-air living room that extends to a private deck and heated pool; a private terrace that leads into a garden with a Jacuzzi; a fully equipped kitchen; and a home theater. Activities include board games, foosball and ping pong.
The Château de Saqui in Provence is a blend of 17th-century architecture and 21st-century comfort. The renovated property has seven air-conditioned bedrooms, seven bathrooms and three swimming pools, two of which are heated. Set on 136 acres, the property is home to a French Garden, estate vineyards, orchards, meadows, ponds, a lake and an 18th-century windmill. The château can be rented alone, accommodating a party of 14, or as the full estate, which includes an independent guesthouse and a farmhouse. The estate, with its combined 15 bedrooms and three swimming pools, can easily accommodate 30 guests, such as an extended family or guests with their own staff. Private experiences at the château or nearby can be added, including cooking classes, truffle chase, wine-making tour and beekeeping experience, to name a few.
Less than a 15-minute drive from Castellina in Chianti, Amarika is a newly restored and restyled seven-bedroom property. It is well-fitted for large groups who want to get a glimpse of Tuscan life. The ideal location of the villa, just 50 minutes from Florence and 25 minutes from Siena, the iconic views of the vine rows and the villa’s organic farming methods used to produce extra-virgin olive oil and Chianti wine are pros to consider.
Villa Marine is a seven-bedroom luxury villa in an area of just four large properties, located on the heights of the Route de Tahiti, offering views of the bays of Pampelonne and Canoubiers and the sea at Les Salins. It is less than a five-minute drive to the center of St. Tropez. Pampelonne Beach is less than a 10-minute drive, and Nice Airport is an hour and a half away. The villa is surrounded by a Mediterranean garden of over two acres, including an infinity-edge pool, a pool house with a fully equipped bar and a lounge area. The outdoor parking spaces can accommodate 12 cars, while the garage can accommodate three cars plus scooters. On the terraces close to the villa there is a summer lounge area, as well as two dining areas for up to 28 guests.
Overlooking the Ionian Sea, Ultima Corfu is a six-bedroom villa located on the island of Corfu, Greece. With 180-degree views of the Greek and Albanian coasts, Ultima Corfu features two infinity pools, gym, spa, hammam and Jacuzzi with a view. It also has a home cinema, including the possibility for an outdoor movie experience, and a private dock for access to the islands via a private yacht.
The industry has also seen a rise in hotels and resorts offering private residences. In these accommodations, guests get the added value of the resort’s amenities and services. Below are three private residences that have joined the FHxD collection, and are available via the FHxD platform.
The Villa Azzurine at Vila Vita Parc Resort and Spa in the Algarve, Portugal spans 18,000 square feet. The six-bedroom villa has a 22-seat dining table crafted from a single mango tree. Handcrafted mosaics are found throughout and took a team of eight Italian craftsmen two months to complete. It also houses a spa, indoor and outdoor pool, gym, sauna and steam room. Guests can relish Michelin-starred cuisine. Fully staffed and with access to all the resort’s facilities, the villa comes with two chauffeured limited-edition Porsches and access to a private yacht.
Octagon House at Chatham Bars Inn, Cape Cod, is a 5,100-square-foot three-level octagon-shaped beachfront residence. It has four bedrooms, five bathrooms and two powder rooms. At the top is a third floor Main Suite, accessible via stairway or elevator, with a king bed, his and her bathrooms, and a study with a wet bar and pocket doors for privacy. The second Main Suite has a balcony off the bedroom, a bathroom and a private office with pocket doors. The third bedroom’s two twin beds can be transformed into a king bed. It has an en-suite bath with a separate powder room and dressing area. The fourth bedroom has a queen bed and full bathroom. The home has a full kitchen, washer and dryer, and French doors leading to the outdoor terrace with a gas grill and outdoor dining area. To top it off, the home is located amidst the many offerings of Chatham Bars Inn.
The Roundtree’s historic two-bedroom Main House has a two-story home situated on Amagansett’s tree-lined Main Street. Dating back more than a century, this home features a contemporary aesthetic with neutral color tones, light hardwood floors, and art and decorative pieces sourced from around the world. The home spans more than 2,200 square feet over two levels. It has two bedrooms, two en-suite baths with walk-in showers, a powder room, a fully equipped kitchen, a dining room, a living room with a gas fireplace and a furnished front porch. Amenities include dedicated concierge services.
