Just Back: All About St. Barth's

In this video "Just Back," Luxury Travel Advisor VP/Editorial Director Ruthanne Terrero spoke with Limor Decter of Embark Beyond about her trip to St. Barth's earlier this year. During our conversation, she shared a variety of details on the top luxury hotels, the island's currency and some foodie tips for this chic Caribbean destination.

"I was so impressed with island, and the beauty and the culture—all of it, really," Decter said. "It was my first visit and hopefully it won't be my last."

Getting there: Decter used Tradewind Aviation to fly from the island from San Juan, Puerto Rico. She said "it was a really seamless, wonderful experience." In all, the flight between islands is about one hour and you're on your way as soon as you land.

She visited Le Barthélemy Hotel & Spa; Eden Rock St Barths; a member of the Oetker Collection; Hôtel Le Toiny, part of Relais & Châteaux; Rosewood Le Guanahani St. Barth; and Le Sereno Hotel, among others. "We really got a good flavor of who, what and where. We loved them all, and they were all so different," Decter added.

As for Le Barthélemy, she said it has everything—from the beach and pool to the rooms, spa and F&B. Neighboring are Le Sereno and Rosewood, Decter calling each beautiful. Traveling a bit further down the road, you will come to Eden Rock, which is "very chic and sexy." Decter noted that the villa product is "outrageous;" it's also a good spot for those looking to party, as the resort is located near Nikki Beach and Gyp Sea Beach. Tip: Decter said don't overlook the (also nearby) newly reopened Le Tropical Hotel. Although it's not located on the beach, she noted it was very colorful and has great character and vibes.

On the opposite side of the island, Le Toiny "is very exclusive." Decter said that it's a great spot for honeymooners, especially due to the low room count—each of which has its own private pool and entrance.

On-island, Decter worked with Sonia Tejero of All About St. Barts, a DMC. She can assist with hotels, transfers, dining reservations. "She knows the best time to sit at the best beach clubs on the most popular days ... and she just knows her St. Barth's," Decter said.
