The Chatwal Lodge in New York’s Catskills to Open April 1, 2021

The Chatwal Lodge, located 90 miles north of New York City, in the town of Bethel, New York, will open on April 1, 2021.

Located at The Chapin Estate, a 2,500-acre gated residential community, The Chatwal Lodge is nestled within a 30-acre environmentally protected land. Guests will enjoy views of the 1,000-acre Toronto Reservoir Lake, have access to hiking trails, and have chances to spot white-tailed deer and nesting bald eagles.

Accommodations

The outdoors will be incorporated in all 10 suites through details like private patios overlooking the lake, vaulted ceilings, arched windows, reclaimed-wood walls, log-treaded stairs, hand-carved headboards, faux fur and woolen upholstery. Select accommodations will additionally have larger lakeside decks, outdoor showers, deep soaking tubs, kitchens, dining and living areas suitable for cordial gatherings with family and friends.

Pretty cool: Raised 25 feet above the ground, a 1,000-square-feet treehouse features a sitting area with interiors made from pine and cedar, a fireplace, and an outdoor deck with views of the scenery. A glam tent up to 850 square feet with an open floor plan will provide a natural setting with all the comforts of a luxury accommodation, including a king bed, an en-suite bath, and wraparound verandas.

Farm-to-Table

The main building will house a farm-to-table restaurant, lobby lounge, wine cellar, bar, dining terrace, and a private dining room. A local chef will create organic, locally sourced daily specials. In addition to partnering with neighboring bakers, cheesemakers, artisans, meat and poultry farmers, fresh fish will be sourced from the on-property trout stream. Fresh herbs and homegrown vegetables will be in abundance from the kitchen gardens on premise.

Afternoon tea experiences, craft cocktails and all-day dining can be enjoyed beside a massive fireplace or on the outdoor terrace with heaters to take in the lakeview all year round.  A library will display books on the Catskills and other topics of interest in history, culture, art and design. There will also be a dedicated section for children’s classics. Indoor games like chess, scrabble and backgammon are offered, as well.
