New in Napa: Two Wine-Focused Retreats

Four Seasons’ newest California hotel will be its first to have an on-site winery and vineyard — we’re already sold.

Four Seasons Resort and Residences Napa Valley, located in Calistoga (about 90 minutes from the Bay Area), is scheduled to open this fall with farmhouse-style accommodations, a farm-to-table dining program and, obviously, impressive vineyard experiences.

The five-and-a-half-acre vineyard’s main production is its signature cabernet sauvignon. Fun Fact: Winemaker Thomas Rivers Brown has received 23 perfect 100-point scores for his cabernet sauvignon projects by wine critic Robert Parker Jr; in 2010, he was named “Winemaker of the Year” by Food & Wine magazine. Be sure to book a private tasting in the winery’s tasting room.

Four Seasons Resort and Residences Napa Valley has farmhouse-style accommodations.

Truss is the signature restaurant, which will comprise a cocktail bar, living room, chef’s table and terrace for dining with views of the vineyards and Palisades Mountains.

The crème de la crème of the accommodations is The Estate Villa, which is available in various configurations from one to three bedrooms. Guests have indoor-outdoor living and dining spaces, including a private garden with your own swimming pool, a fireplace and media room.

In Yountville, the LEED Platinum Certified Bardessono has debuted three new villas, available to book individually or fully, as The Maple Grove Villas. The accommodations all have one bedroom and range from 1,120 to 1,410 square feet (although they have different sizes / floorplans, each has the same amenities). A highlight is the oversized en-suite bathroom that doubles as a private spa for in-room treatments. Additionally, the villas have stocked wine fridges, REN bath products, 65-inch TVs, gas fireplaces and outdoor “cocktail pools” with lounge seating. Guests who reserve all three villas as one full retreat receive complimentary use of a hybrid Lexus.

At Four Seasons Resort and Residences Napa Valley, the Truss restaurant’s terrace (here) offers views of the vineyards and the Palisades Mountains.

Good to know: The Maple Grove Villas are serviced by Bardessono Docents, who can arrange activities like personal yoga and meditation sessions, art tours or museum visits, cooking lessons, private chef demonstrations and chef-guided excursions. Guests also have access to everything at Bardessono, including dining at the Lucy Restaurant and Bar, seasonal treatments at B Spa, the pool and fitness center, carbon fiber bicycle rentals and more.
